Insight In

Behind the eyes
sadness lies
conscious attention

expands the vision
ocular solar system
eyes wide shut

on any of the planets
or realms beyond
matter

there must be an
entity willing to
reflect in prisms

the expansive truth
of the love I emanate
when astrally projecting

Someone who dares
to look beyond what's
seen, into the soul's source

Friction fear ambiguity
a quagmire of self inflicted
gelatinous residue

Breathe deeply into these
places of conflict
see how the veins pulse

in rhythm with
the drum beat
of the mother's heart

The Universe is birthing
a new age of warriors
who light up illusions

with the truth which
lies behind the eyes
beyond the sadness

don't get stuck,
this container is
only temporary

live now in
exquisite harmony
focus on sight unseen...

Connecting Wishes

In dreams
it seems
delicate fibers
weave elaborate
mandalas

Universal orchestra
lights up hemispheres
connecting wishes
with memories
like mica in moonlight

Consoling my waking
container of self
whose only touch
emanates from
magic cat's paws

In dreams
I walk, left hand
on the Crow
Right palm lights
up each time I touch

Musical prodigy
our desire lit
like fireflies in heat
exquisite thinning veil
between

wake and dream...

Reverb

Interrupting old messages,
cosmic cleansing
tuning fork poised

Refined frequency
offers less static
to cling to

I will not craft
your story
despite being a natural

heroine

Love conduits
New Millennium of
Indigo sages

Raise high your
scepters
Meteor showers

reverberate

recalibrate your chakras
I touch each one
with rose petal kisses

Each eyebrow's curve
a rainbow
expression of

possibilities...

Love Symphony Number Two

What kind of flavor is your crazy?
What's that madness you're a brewin?
You aromatic nut

There's a crack in my
cosmic egg
light shines forth no need to dread

Sound Doctor
tune into my elixir
our remedy could lay in
synthesizing the mixture

Aged tannins yield
potent concoctions...
what if our magic
was waiting to be unleashed?

Season well with self awareness
Knowing when to hold the tongue
Humility comes from vulnerability
Strength from letting go

Twenties governed by desire
Thirties led by spirit
Forties surrendering to fate
Illusion of control has no power here

Love, honor, respect, nurturing, sensuality,
creativity, patience, humor, inspiration...
even a commitment to the process
To trust the never ending journey

There are only eternal nows
conscious remembering
to be kind
selfless service

Sensuality has it's place too
It unleashes that which can't be named
Unlocks the door to that shared forgotten space
Infinite wisdom of the one...

Remedy # 22

You’ll know you’ve encountered

a toxic energy shaker if

your world feels like a maraca,

or if clouds appear sinister on a Spring day

to dispel shadowy residue

find a secluded hill overlooking a field

play a flute in this place until dusk,

witness purple light crest the mountain’s hips

shed your clothes and shoes,

wear only crystals and gems which were

bathed in sea salt and replenished under a full moon

kiss the fronts of both palms, first left then right

gently plant yourself among the grass and moss

fashion a crown of Dandelions, weave it through your hair

listen to bird song melt into the cicadas minuet

Hum from deep inside your being

Lay back and let the night wind ignite your skin

let the stars fill your eyes with universal hope

Sing the moon a lullabye while rising to your feet

Dance with the fullness of night's mystery

Call to a mountain and meet her

follow crystal veins in the rock's face

trek down her side until she smiles up at you

walk into the water and meet your reflection

Anoint your flesh with cool water

swim as the true mermaid that you are

let the fish tickle your toes without flinching

find a rock still warm from the day's sun

Lay upon it and rest, find a language all your own

let your song inform you of forgotten melodies

Breathe deeply touch the earth once again

return to your starting place

your energy is cleansed.

Chics in Wheelchairs

On the boob tube a comedian guffaws
"I have high standards
no chics in wheelchairs or ones who use canes"

In a meeting, a woman shared
"I deserve more than to be with a man
who walks with a cane."

I happened to be leading that meeting
she, so self absorbed didn't connect the dots
when, at the end, I rose with the aide of my cane.

I can't fault them, even I
say in the recesses of my mind
you're broken, unwanted...

They do not know that in the flash of a headlight
my life was altered from harmony to staccato rhythms
I know that I am still whole inside...

except for the hole where I bury my doubts, loneliness and fears.

Filters as Shields

Her face twists into a veil
she, an empath, a clairvoyant too
catching trails of thought
feels her way into a room.

The clambering tambourine
of your disquieted mind is too strong
buffering as best she can
adipose tissue, a painted fan

She sees a hole which you stuff with people places and things
braces herself, careful not to be sucked right in
knowing full well it is meant to be there
Mind races, pulse quickens, you're scared.

Part the curtains or sea, which can never stay still
The hole's not broken don't fix it, your conduit wails.
Each soul's not perfect, each egg has a crack
The hole is really a treasure map.

Instead of yearning, you might sit and pray
or if that's not your bag list ten good things you ate today
unimportant the method, you bring it forth
the hole is there to guide you, like a tuning fork.

Winter Minutes

It's quiet again
friends come and go
now it's just me
and the snow

Icicles melted together
form a curtain
I want to be them
connected, clear, patient

Constantly in contact
with the mother
recycling and always giving
nourishing wisdom in harmony

In the big houses across the lane
smoke wafts from chimneys
Here the heat rises from the floor
which is cold my cottage rests on stilts

I will open my book and read
another's thoughts for a while...

Aquarium of Dreams

Submerged inside my Aquarium of Dreams
Fortune Cookie Fishies come apart at the seams
Bright coral reef harbors newfound riches
Amethyst creatures jump out to kiss witches

They too are here, on aquatic broomsticks they glide
Dipping and flipping racing seahourse and snail
Only pausing enthralled by a Dolphin's sweet tale
They weave secrets of ocean into their hair

All high from the thrill that they don't have to share
The Mermaids breathe love-songs into the air
These sisters comb though my dreams, make sure they're fair
Splashing aqua blue light into the creases

A Whale caught my eye and told me earth's secrets
We both had a good belly laugh which caused a great wave
The Whale meant no harm so the sea tribe she saved
We laughed a bit lighter just enough for choppy waters

Until we were hungry twas seafood we ordered.

Turtle Up

Turtle upturned
cracked shell
no way out

How much deeper
can the Turtle
retreat?

Under the sea
100 years of
collecting sand,
a shell is born

Inside a soft
creature
takes refuge

At the same time
A great beast
driven by drink

breaks my shell
and I am contained
within

floating

waiting, praying, working
toward regrowth

A Few Weeks In

Pain robs me of sleep
palpating my aches
hurting my healing
ripping open my sleep
and knocking, no pounding
on my nerve centers
ice, pills when they let me
still it continues to scratch
no, thrash at me while
I lay, supine, two broken ankles
broken pelvis. Nurse yanking
and pulling me from side to side
she stuffs a plastic bed pan
change the chucks or wedge
ice into hard to reach places
I cry inwardly but ache until
tin tastes invade my essence.

Don't Take my Leg

Inside the Tulip, the red ones
is a black center
with yellow shining through
they open
I'm, no we are
not ready to lose a petal.

4 months In

Bad pen
knee protrudes
suture pokes it head through
thin skin
I am, no my bones are
walking on thin ice
my body and mind
a thawing lake
frozen for Winter
teardrops melting
the top layers
heat rising
sometimes with fury
grasping at slippery
edges desperate
not to go under
frozen forever
can't stop the melting
not a dream
those are quite
new to me again
the waking hours
a magnifying glass
aimed at my heart
my third eye waits
for rescue.

Shoulda been a tattoo

I feel like
an old shirt
kept at the
bottom of
your drawer
that you
don't want
anymore
but can't
throw out

Seaweed behind the Ears, Longin fo da Beach

Barefoot through the thistle yo
Like Ceasar?
No, more like Cisarro

Kicks on fire
bustin out the blisters yo
ridin the tides

I'm Yemayah's daughter so
flippers to the side
Tails to the west

when I'm in water
I'm lovin every aspect

First Digit

One knuckle
first digit pointer
to be exact

swollen craggy
like driftwood
I banged it I think

or maybe it's
arthritis
striking early

whatever it is
I type this now
with my middle finger

finally center stage
at last while poor pointer
watches from above

How hard it is
not to use you
especially in school

where I need to
coat you in oil
rely upon your agility

Shoulder moans in sympathy
listen while the haughty
forearm muscles balk

look at that crumpled digit
so swollen unable to heal
sending cryptic smoke signals

to that befuddled brain
ouch my finger what shall I do?
tape it, xray it, kiss it

do something you fool!
there is no finger prince
or pointer fairy

This reminds us of
the time when you fractured
your arm and failed to call 911

Well, maybe not as bone
curdlingly painful, but still
a cry for action

Ok I'll call the Doctor
better to know
sacrifice time to save a finger...

Voudou Hairdresser

Voudou hairdresser
messes with your head

twisting the tendrils
waking the dead

she straightens you out
then plaits each strand

carefully placing
her silent demands

behind your ear
she tattoos a bee

the buzzing won't stop
so she combs it all out

carefully she pockets
the strands that fell out

for you may leave
but you'll never shake free

she's woven a doll and
stuffed it with hair

if you squint in the night
you may see it there

hanging from a tree
covered with fleas

you'll get no relief
except from a breeze

so careful my friends
when it comes to your hair

there's plenty of
voudou hairdressers out there

Loud Silence

Silence is filled
with life

little sparrows
flap their wings

neighbor's car passes
republican sticker grimacing

wind tussles the trees
sounds like rushing water

my inner ears
creak and click

clock in bathroom
ticks like a metronome

mouse rotor clicks
as I roll it along

again the rustling wind
in the distance a whistling child

ten minutes past six
distinguishable only to me

the breaking pieces
of my heart

Riddle Me This

It's quiet here
still I try to
hold
the slippery rock

it pushes through
my hands
like a toe
through a sock

There's the laughter
of the children
two houses down
the way

the rain dripping
from branches
and my cat's purr
though it fades

Like a flacid
muscled swimmer
trying to climb
a rope

or a tight mouthed
corrosive sinner
who tries to
give up smokes

I ride the teeter-totter
never could ride a bike
but the roters are all rotten
so I fight I fight I fight

It's a silly enterprise
to hold what I cannot
like steam the
thoughts must rise

I'm not
I'm not

Musings on Assertiveness

Some people
respond well
to assertiveness

Please do not
speak to me
that way...

it's strange to see
others warm
to me

after I have
slapped their
wrists

I suppose
some people
need to be

knocked back
into consciousness
out of their dazed

sleepwalking
through their
dream of self
